As she huddled around the portable fan heater (grateful that she didn’t have to share with her two cherubs who were tucked up in bed), she began to appreciate, albeit on a very minuscule level, just how freaking cold homeless people must feel during these chilly and often frosty winter mornings.
And it saddened her to think that although her plight would be rectified come morning, when the repairman arrived to fix the seized heating unit, many thousands of people across the country would rarely have the opportunity to become blasé about this fundamental human need that most of us, herself included, simply take for granted.
